French

Our French teacher in our school is Mary Fleury. The 5th and 6th class learn French every week through interesting methods. Mrs Fleury teaches the children about the customs the French partake in. They learn about French drinks and food. Mrs Fleury has French days where she brings in French foods ad teaches the children the French words for these foods. On the 23rd of June this year Mrs Fleury had French lunch organised for her class. She gave the children croissants and other French pastries; she even gave the teachers a taste.

Modern language

The modern languages in primary school initiative (MLPSI) supports the teaching and learning of modern languages in over 530 schools nationwide.

Ideas for supporting your child.

1. Show an interest in what your child is learning in their modern language class- French.
2. Display a positive attitude towards French
3. Encourage your child to speak the language both with you and in situations.
4.Encourage your child to look for examples around them of the language they are learning.
5.Encourage the children to collect artefacts about France.
6. Keep informed of your Childs progress in the modern language class.
