Say Yes To Languages
We participated in the "Say Yes To Languages Project." Renée came to our school to teach us German. It was wonderful learning a new language as well as learning all about Germany and the culture there. It's a pity it only lasted 8 weeks but we still learned lots.
Nollaig Shona Duit
Working as Historians.
While learning about the "The Bronze Age" we discovered that the famous " Dowris Hoard" was found in our parish. In the 1820s, near Whigsborough in Fivealley, two men found a huge collection of ancient objects from the Bronze Age while digging trenches for pototoes.
We researched information about this famous discovery and examined some photographic evidence.

Our Local History Trail to Mr. & Mrs. Egan's Farmhouse
We visited Egan's Heritage Farmhouse in Fivealley. We interviewed Mr. & Mrs. Egan and learned about life in the farmhouse in the 1900s.
We looked at lots of artefacts on display. We discovered how life on the farm and in the house had changed over time. Mr. Egan lit the fire in the hearth and told us about how his mother baked bread, cooked meals and boiled water on the open fire. We learned about how people lived without electricity or running water in the house. The farmhouse was a "rambling house" too. Neighbours & friends used to call in at night to play cards, tell stories and play music and dance. We enjoyed our history trail and we learned a lot too.

Our History Exhibition in the school hall.
We interviewed our grandparents and other members of the parish. We collected artefacts and learned about these. Other classes and our parents & grandparents visited the school hall. We dressed up in old clothes and costumes and shared our information with our visitors.
