Water Action Day
We held our Day of Action on 10th Dec. 2010. It was a great day. Everybody wore something blue on that day. We had a "Water Concert Afternoon"
in the school hall. Our parents, grandparents & friends of the community were invited. Every class performed a "water activity". Mr, Dunne's infants sang a lovely song "What would we do without water?" and said an Irish poem about water.
Ms. Howell's 1st & 2nd class sang lots of action songs about water & read out poems they had written about water too. Mrs. Davis 3rd & 4th class sang songs with "water" themes. They even made up "cool raps" about saving water and the water cycle. Ms. Walsh's 5th & 6th class did a drama all about people in a town called "Baile An Uisce"
& how they wasted water & then learned how precious water is & the need to conserve it.
Pupils from 4th - 5th classes put on a display of "Water Science Experiments" for our guests. They showed them how salt in water can make eggs float, how "surface tension" can make a needle float & how celery can turn "blue" when we added a blue dye to the water. It was great fun & everybody enjoyed it!!
Water Week
We held a "Water Week" in November. During this week we had many visitors coming to our school and informing us about "water" Here are some "extracts" from our diary of "Water Week" in our science copies.
