Welcome to Our Greenschool's Page.
We are very interested in taking care of our environment. In school we do lots of things to save the environment. We sort our waste into compost, re-cycle and non-recycle bins. We do not waste paper and try to re-use paper and cardboard as much as possible. Outside, we created a "Bug Hotel" for little creatures and we sow flowers for the bees & butterflies. We are working on our eighth green flag which is all about "Global Citizenship & The Marine Environment"
Our Election Campaign
We have a Greenschool's Committee which is made up of pupils and staff. Two pupils from second class to sixth were elected. We had lots of fun campaigning for votes. Children made posters, badges and performed music and short poems to canvass for votes. We had a big school assembly and all candidates were given the opportunity to persuade pupils to vote for each other .
It was great fun !

Global Citizenship |
We are Global Citizens. We care for our world and its people. Every year we have a "Jersey Day" for GOAL. We raise money for GOAL so that it can help people in need, all over the world. A "Goalie" from GOAL came to our school and did a workshop with the senior pupils to explain GOAL's work. She had lots of activities & drama to help us become aware of the needs of others and how best we can help one another

Our Natural World
In March 2020 all schools closed due to Covid-19 Pandemic. Schools. workplaces, places of worship, sports facilities etc all ceased but nature provided us with beauty and hope. The Natural World continued and looked forward to new beginnings. Our school was silent and empty but our Pupils' Flowerbeds bloomed and blossomed......
Our Greenschool's Motto
We wanted to raise awareness of the damage being done to our seas and oceans. Litter, waste and pollution are destroying marine plants & creatures. We researched "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch" and learned the terrible consequences litter & pollution are having on our oceans .
All classes had competitions to raise awareness of the threats to our oceans. Junior & Senior Infants coloured beautiful pictures of Marine Creatures. First and Second Classes designed posters to remind people to dispose of their litter properly. Pupils from third to sixth class had a competition to create a " School Motto" to remind us to care for our world.
Here are the Winners
Well done to all the girls and boys
who entered our competitions.
Each class received treats for all pupils
as well as individual prizes for the overall class winners .
Our Motto
Are you listening closely, 'cos I've got something to say,
about the great and mighty oceans that we're going to save today.
They are full of plastic that's killing
marine life day by day.
So let's all get together
to save our seas.
Stop using plastic.
And be as green as we can be.

Our Day of Action 22nd April 2021
Earth Day was on the 22nd April 2021. We decided to have our "Day Of Action" on that day too. All classes looked at the Earth Day resources and learned a lot about ways to help our environment. The whole school did a " Clean Up" of our school grounds. Each class stayed in their bubble and had a particular area of the school to clean up. The older pupils in fifth and sixth class found lots of waste and plastic in the hedge, which had blown in from the road, farms and building projects. Look at the infants working hard to clean along the wall at the front of the school. We sorted our waste and litter into compost. recycle and non-recycle bins.
Our Bee & Butterfly Patch
We learned about the importance of bees, butterflies and insects. They are pollinators which means that they carry pollen from one flower to the next. When this happens seeds form and plants and food grow for all living things on the earth. We need bees and insects to pollinate . We made a "Bee & Butterfly Patch" in the corner of our field. One of our parents helped us to get the ground ready and then we planted wild flower seeds . We hope that these will grow and attract as many bees, butterflies and insects as possible.
